Lydrasoft is a newly founded company specialized in the development and innovative deployment of real time communication services.

·            Designed, architected and documented a price efficient Wi-Fi Calling solution for wireless carriers based on SIP/IMS standards. Solution includes calling, messaging, USSD and supplementary services over IMS.

·            Based on experience gained with T-Mobile I developed the business case for the South African market; I engaged at leadership level with CellC (3^rd mobile carrier in SA) and sold the end-to-end solution for the first Wi-Fi Calling product in Africa.

o   Managed an outsourced sw team that developed the Android Wi-Fi Calling client in 6 months.

o   Delivered the Wi-Fi calling embedded Android client, end-to-end product requirements, service architecture, call flows, mobile client specification and the end-to-end test cases.

o   Lead a cross functional team (Lydrasoft, CellC, Huawei, Atos) and successfully launched the product to market in 7 months; defined the work planning, track progress, defined and lead the end-to-end testing.

o   Launched over 10 mobile phones with W-Fi calling service enabled across 5 handset OEMs.

o   Guided the Marketing and Product team in CellC on defining the go to market strategy.

o   Manage the support for OEMs in their effort to integrate the Lydrasoft Wi-Fi Calling Android software.

o   Manage the development of the next Android releases for the Lydrasoft client (currently supporting L and M).

·            Wi-Fi Calling product launched commercially on October, 2015 and positioned CellC as a top innovator in South African mobile landscape. Product is on track to significantly reduce churn, increase roaming minute usage and increase sales to business.

·            Consulted with Vodafone Global for the definition and design of a high quality, best in class Wi-Fi Calling solution.

·            Consulted with Charter Communications for the definition of the Unified Communication product over Android and iOS

·            Consulted with Microsoft Skype for Business group for developing methods of enhancing the product to fully harvest and monetize on the features of LTE networks.

·            Engaging in business development efforts with SoC manufacturers, mobile operators, infrastructure providers and OEMs/ODMs and creating technical and commercial offers for mobile carriers and infrastructure providers.

 

T-MOBILE USA, Bellevue, WA2001 – Nov 2014

Managed up to 30 technical program managers and engineers, lead the strategy, design, development and deployment of several mobile services with 2 industry-first. Negotiated contracts and closed strategic partnerships. Persuaded mobile OEMs for the integration of in-house developed Android and Windows software facilitating handset portfolio differentiation. Evaluate and recommend the acquisition and implementation of mobile services and platforms. Prepared long and short-term strategies. Administer up to $7M in budgets.

·          Built a top performing team by attracting talent through a flexible management style, strategic thinking, effective collaboration with peer departments, and by initiating and finalizing complex and top performing projects.

·          Developed, patented and launched the industry-first Android Remote Phone Unlock service and mobile application.

·          Lead the in-house developed Android Remote Phone Unlock software integration across the entire Android portfolio with the handset/chipset OEMs.

·          Opened new line of business based on cross revenue sharing with strategic partners by implementing a mobile security service enabler based on Trusted Execution Environment across the T-Mobile Android phone portfolio. Slashed the cost of the solution by 40% through effective contract negotiation with Trustonic, G&D and Qualcomm.

·          Positioned T-Mobile in a leading IoT connectivity provider role by designing and managing the architecture and the implementation of the cloud managed eUICC (eSIM) product for the M2M (machine to machine) business line.

·          Championed and obtained plan approval from CTO to develop in-house IMS / SIP based telephony framework for Android which gave T-Mobile the technology edge to launch first VoLTE and first Apple Wi-Fi Calling service.

·          Contributed to the Android developer community by publishing IMS stack source code.

·          Managed the design and development of the Android embedded Wi-Fi Calling mobile application and lead the deployment across the entire Android portfolio managing the OEM engagement and software deliveries.

·          Managed the SIM technical specification and validation for T-Mobile. Reduced annual SIM procurement cost by $15 mil. by creating the business case and introducing new SIM SKUs and new SIM products for MVNOs.

·          Enabled $100M-plus in annual revenue by managing the service/application design and commercial deployment of Visual Voicemail, Voicemail to text, Enhanced Caller Name, Family Finder.

·          Created business cases, requirements and products requiring the introduction of new product enabling platforms such as Generic Authentication Architecture (GAA/GBA), Identity and Access Management (operator as Identity Provider); launched industry first GAA platform enabling T-Mobile to extend SIM authentication to application partners.

·          Member of the project team working with Google to enable Project Fi.

·          Initiated CTIA working group (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, US Cellular) that wrote the interoperability guidelines for inter-carrier video calling. Specification was ratified by CTIA Board of Directors in 2013 and later was pulled under RCS 5.1 standard.

 

 

Senior Product Manager/Senior Manager, Product Development (2001-2009)

Responsible for managing all aspects of product lifecycle for several value added services, from ideation to launch. Supervised up to 30 technical product managers. Prepared RFPs, PRDs and service metrics. In charge with vendor selection, contract negotiation.

·          Facilitated more than $100M in new revenues by leading and successfully launching programs such as MyFaves, Family Portal, Messaging Service Delivery Portal, MMS, MyAlbum Photo Sharing, Mobile Location Gateway, Ring Back Tones.

·          Key member of team that worked with Google and HTC on creation of first Android phone – Google G1.

·          Prepared PRD, RFP, selected platform vendor and successfully launched SyncML based Network Address Book Portal and enabler and lead the mobile client implementation across the OEMs achieving 100% phone penetration.

·          Initiated pilot program to research semantic web as a new technology for building value added services in mobile space. Delivered several client application prototypes and earned promotion to Director.

·          Chosen by senior officers for pilot Leadership Focus training program, UK-based Innovation Infusion (IDEO), and subsequent Innovation Center team.

·          Initiated the introduction of US-first MMS service; co-designed Samsung’s first MMS mobile application and launched Samsung’s first phone with color display, MMS and embedded camera in USA. 

·          Wrote custom protocols and patented new product methodologies for T-Mobile MyFaves service.

·          Designed and managed the implementation of SMS, MMS and per event data billing. Managed the implementation in the Mediation and Billing platform, performed end-to-end testing and validation.

·          Created PRD, RFP, negotiated contract and launched SMS/MMS service delivery platform. Platform eventually produced $300M-plus over 10-year period.

·          Managed the launch of MMS interoperability service with AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.
